Capt. Joseph Brown
James Brown, was a captain during the war, fought at Bunker Hill and Saratoga, and received a ball at Bunker Hill, which lodged in his body and was afterwards skillfully extracted and Brown shot it back at Saratoga. In June of 1801 he was fined $.04 by Seth, Brooks, Collector for the Social Library in Acton for soiled pages (pg's. 194-195) of the Pilgrim Progress. By May of 1803 the question of a new meeting house was discussed and Colonel Holman of Bolton was hired to survey the town and ascertain the center of the land area. Captain, James Brown with John Edwards, Lt. Simon Tuttle, and George Robbins were chosen as a committee to help decide where to locate the projected house of worship.
