Capt. Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones was born in Jones Tavern in Acton, Mass on December 4, 1754, the son of Samuel And Sarah Hubbard Jones He married Abigail Billings of Acton, April 8,1779 they born 11 children. He died on June 11, 1836.
Aaron Jones was member of Acton Militia, which held some of their meetings in Jones Tavern, where he was born. He answered the call to arms in Concord on April 19 1775 (Source, and Historic Papers Acton Historical Society). On March 4,1776 he was a private in Capt Simon Hunt's Co. attached to Col Eleazer Brook`s Regt which was fortifying Dorchester Height. On April 9,1776, Aaron enlisted in the group fortifying and defending the city of Boston. On Sept .28,1776 he was a 2nd corporal in Col of Buttrick`s Co. of Volunteers. He was with Reeds Regt, at the time they took Gen. Burgoyne. He served at Northward and was reported as having served as a captain under Col. Buttrick (Source; Massachusetts Soldiers in the war of the Revolution). Aaron Jones also marched for `Defiance of Rhode Island' on or about April .12,1778. He later served as Acton Town Clerk in 1797.

Brooks's regt. to reinforce army under Gen. Gates at the Northward; Col. Buttrick reported as serving as Captain.
